Frige’s Day, November 14, 2008, as black, playing against the (d4) closed game (2. e4), against “eztemp” (1060)

One can expect to hear from time to time a tale of a pet who has been moved that disappears and then finds its way to its old home. That’s considered a normal event.

Sometimes, though, the distance between the two points is more than a few miles, making for a talking point at the pub. Even more interesting is when the distance is hundreds of miles. Certainly a phenomena that we, with our limited worldview, would have to consider paranormal is at play when, for example, a dog travels 800 miles to return to its old home.

We’ll have to go further out, beyond paranormal reality, and into the depths of the metaphysical when discussing Clementine’s journey. Clementine, according to sources, was a pregnant black cat that resided with a family in Dunkirk, New York. The family moved, leaving Clementine behind. Clementine then gave birth to and nursed her litter. Then she hit the road.

Mind you that Clementine wasn’t moved so her trek is not a return trip. And it isn’t just over the next ridge.

Clementine left Dunkirk, New York, and trekked to the doorstep of the family’s new home, in Denver, Colorado.

Misidentification of the animal is ruled out when it is revealed that Clementine had unique features, seven toes on each front paw, two white spots on the stomach and a scar on her left shoulder. The animal had left its home to travel 1600 miles on foot to a destination to which she had never before been and she made it in four months, which breaks down into a grueling 13 miles per day, nonstop, on legs that could be no more than a foot long.

With a pet returning several hundred miles home, one might say that the beast was following electromagnetic lines that lead it to its abode, which had a very specific electromagnetic signature. But what about Clementine? She was traveling into the great unknown. Her destination was a family of humans and between her and them lies numerous bodies of water, including but not limited to the Mississippi River, interstates and freeways, and an infinitude of territorial dogs, cats, other predators and wildlife.

There is no logical explanation. To explain what happened, one has to talk about auras, balloon strings, clairvoyance, telepathy, and guidance by higher intelligences.

Speaking of clairvoyance, the opening to this game was a variation of the D4 closed game. That it has proved to be. Is a sacrifice mandated to open a closed game?

Tao Te Ching, Passage 38: " ... When the Tao is lost, there is goodness.
When goodness is lost, there is morality.
When morality is lost there is ritual.
Ritual is the husk of true faith,
the beginning of chaos."
