The sun is the driver of all life on this planet. It is the drummer for every life rhythm in every Earthly system.
Generally speaking plants and photosynthesizing microorganisms are at the base of every food chain on this planet and thus the boom and bust cycles of plant growth determine the boom and bust cycles of everything else. For example, sun-driven climate change, albeit gradual or rapid, and solar storms and cosmic rays affect wheat yields. Wheat stocks and prices then determine social affairs on a global scale. One of the cited reasons for the “revolution” in Egypt is food (grain) prices.
History is replete with other similar examples. The French, American and Russian Revolutions of the 18th century were, it has been argued, fueled in part from the anger arising due to crop failures caused by the mini-ice age that followed a major volcanic eruption in Iceland. Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes have been statistically linked to solar storms. And when food is not available, people are not so nice, patient and tolerant of the excesses and crimes of government.
Solar storms directly affect human behavior. A study by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, entitled Solar and Geomagnetic Activities and Related Effects on the Human Physiological and Cardio-Health State: Some Results of Azerbaijaniand Collaborative Studies, determined that “Geomagnetic field (storms) cause negative influence, signicantly disintegrate functionality of brain, activate braking processes and amplify the negative emotional background of an individual. Indisposition, weakness and presence of indistinct localized headaches were observed during the days with severe geomagnetic storms for the majority of the experiment participants.”
The same report reveals that solar storms are statistically linked to increases in traffic accidents and death from cardiac failure of one form or another.
Solar storms are also known to take out microcircuits and disrupt electronic and radio communications. How long would civilization last today if the world was zapped by an EMP from the sun that baked every microcircuit worldwide and thus killed every last computer, cell phone, TV, radio, and car on the planet?
Certainly it is clear now why indigenous people worshipped the sun. Aside from it being a source of warmth and food for the crops, it can cause earth changes that lead to massive violent revolution, temporary insanity among individuals and sometimes even death.
Speaking of death, white delivers mate here with a pawn. In over 300 games in the last two years this has only happened one other time.
