Moon Day, December 22, 2008, as white, playing the Queens Gambit Declined and against "eztemp" (1022)Winter officially began before dawn yesterday and the solstice that marked the occasion will unknowingly be celebrated by the peasantry on Thursday, December 25.
The magic of Christmas is in how it mobilizes an entire population to carry out a certain number of largely illogical actions and how it will bring the commerce of an entire nation to a screeching halt for roughly 24 hours.
The history of the mythos of the holiday is effectively lost to the average individual. This is not to say that he or she does not know exactly what the holiday is about. They may know indeed that numerous cults and religions predating Christianity believed in the birth of a god that occurred on or about the 25th of December. Greek god Adonis, for example, was born on the 24th. Further north, the Druids worshipped a golden-haired sun god that was born on the winter solstice. And while the hypothetical average individual may be aware of the likelihood that the story of the life of Christ was melted down and squirted into a pre-existing mythos mold so that it conformed to the information system that determined the life cycles and rituals already in place by the peoples the Romans were attempting to conquer, that hypothetical average individual will not change their behaviors, rituals or life cycles according to this knowledge.
Keep this fact in mind when viewing news stories suggesting that civilization is about to crater due to the mischief of powerful financiers and that to sustain order we, according to the same news sources, must further empower already totalitarian government, perhaps even world government. The population, the rabble, has the power to shut down the commerce of an entire nation. It chooses not to do so in protest to the rapid rise of fascism, but in celebration of a holiday based on a myth that likely isn’t even partially rooted in reality.
The phenomenon of the Christmas holiday is comparable to the festivities surrounding a large sporting event, such as a football game. Whereas a hundred thousand people from all demographics will gather in a stadium to watch grown men play a child’s game, a war protest in the capital of the empire might garner half that many people. The war may ultimately bankrupt the empire financially as it has bankrupted it morally and spiritually, but the hypothetical average individual is not inspired to take part in any group action that might lead to the aborting of the war effort before it has utterly destroyed the empire and possibly civilization. Again, these behavior choices reflect not what that hypothetical average individual knows or doesn’t know. That individual may be well aware that the war is based on fraud and could bring about apocalyptic-type events. The individual simply chooses not to act on such knowledge.
The question is why? Why throw oneself entirely into the behavior systems demanded by a holiday that is so obviously based on half-truths? Why not instead take the actions needed to avert the doom of the species? Why attend sporting events where grown men toss around a ball as if they were children? Why not rally en masse to demand justice for the theft of our rights, dignity and now, finally, our wealth?
The answer is that the individual is a unit of the system, and the system is patriarchal.
As units of society, individuals in the West today obey the patriarchs. If the patriarchs say honor the Christmas holiday, the individual does so. If the patriarchs say watch more football, the individual complacently acquiesces. Similarly, when the individual is told to rally, he or she will. And he or she will also wait for the orders to come from the top to revolt.
The question then arises as to who is the patriarch? The answer is obvious. The patriarch is not the marionettes in the puppet show that is Washington, D.C. It is the media that brings that puppet show into every home. The media, specifically the television, is the primary means of political socialization in America and the West. Whoever controls the media controls the individual. Thus for the patriarchal system to fail, either the power grids must go dark, or the rebellion, in whatever form it takes, must take charge of the media outlets. Both appear to be likely eventualities these days.
Speaking of revolt, black is ahead in material in this game, but white appears set to win back some of that material. Here white has forked black's king and rook. With the tempo, white can take the rook and then continue to defend the backward pawn, which has lost importance now that white's knight outpost will officially be closed for the remainder of the game.
